Emily chose to do a food collection for her Bat Mitzvah. She specifically collected items to make snack bags. We give out these bags to children that come to our food pantry on Monday nights. She collected 220 items, delivered them to our pantry and assembled bags with her older sister Lilly. Lilly also did her Bat Mitzvah collection for our backpacks 4 years ago! This was our set up two years ago. Packing bags socially distanced while our church building was closed. Delivering our backpacks to peoples doorsteps. Making bags to hand out to people from the church playground at our food pantry. That was crazy. But we never stopped and we’ve been flexible and made changes on the fly and took care of as many people as we could. Looking at this picture makes me so thankful for our volunteers who carried us through. And they are still going today.
